Trichologist-founded hair beauty and styling brand, Truth and Hair has raised ₹5.4 Cr in a seed funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV). The fund will be used to strengthen Truth & Hair’s brand positioning as a hair, makeup, and Beauty brand, drive product innovation, expand marketing efforts, and scale its distribution network. Truth & Hair's appearance on Shark Tank India Season 5 put the brand on the national map, with the company securing an on-air deal offer fromVarun Alagh, Co-founder of Mamaearth. Since then, the brand has built a distinctive product portfolio that stands apart from anything else on the shelf, including the Root Touch-Up Hair Mascara, 3-in-1 Curly Styler, and Flyaway Wand. Together, these products have expanded the conversation around hair care beyond the traditional shampoo-and-conditioner playbook, earning the brand widespread media attention. What Truth & Hair is really doing is creating a new category at the intersection of hair, makeup, styling, and scalp health rather than competing directly with conventional shampoo and conditioner giants. The positioning is backed by real credibility: Founder Saumya Alagh is a certified trichologist, giving the brand's scalp-science claims genuine clinical grounding. The product line reflects the same white-space thinking, with hero SKUs such as the Root Touch-Up Hair Mascara, Flyaway Wand, and 3-in-1 Curly Styler facing little direct competition in India. These products are formulated to work across straight, wavy and curly hair rather than catering to a single hair texture. The brand's appearance onShark Tank Indiafurther strengthened consumer trust by showcasing Saumya and Shailesh’s entrepreneurial journey to a national audience. Truth & Hair was co-founded by Saumya Alagh, a certified trichologist who spent from 2018 building NYNM (Naturally You and Me), India's first platform dedicated to international curly-hair brands and community, before launching Truth & Hair in 2024. She's joined by co-founder Shailesh Singh as Chief Business Officer, who brings leadership experience from companies like GE and Max, along with a background in scaling B2B businesses, including PeopleStrong. Together, the two built and scaled NYNM at a time when no dedicated curly-hair brand existed in India, an experience that now underpins Truth & Hair's approach to an equally underserved category. According to Mordor Intelligence, India's hair care and styling products market was valued at USD 5.85 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 8.93 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 8.80%. This market includes styling products, which form Truth & Hair's core category.
