After disrupting India’s telecom market, Jio now has its sights set on indigenouscommunications satellitesfor improved connectivity, Jio Platforms managing director Akash Ambani said on Friday. India’s satellite communications segment is currently dominated by foreign companies like Elon Musk-led Starlink and French service provider Eutelsat, per an article inPTI. While speaking at the 49th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited, Ambani said Jio is also partnering with a global constellation for leasing satellite capacity. Meanwhile, the board of Jio Platforms Ltd has approved filing draft papers for aninitial public offeringinvolving a fresh issue of up to 27 crore equity shares with a face value of Rs 10 each. Theissue price will be determined through a book-building process in accordance with SEBI regulations. The listing comes at a time when India's primary market is struggling. After a record run of public offerings over the past two years, investor sentiment has weakened amid geopolitical tensions and volatility in global energy markets.
