Foodtech and quick commerce major Swiggy reported a 37% year-on-year increase in its operating revenue to Rs 6,812 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 4,961 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company also narrowed its losses by 34% during the period. Scootsy Logistics, Swiggy’s supply chain and distribution arm, remained its largest revenue contributor, accounting for nearly 47% of the company’s operating revenue. Revenue from the segment rose 41% year-on-year to Rs 3,195 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 2,259 crore in the year-ago quarter. Swiggy’s food delivery and quick commerce businesses also posted strong growth during the quarter. Revenue from food delivery increased 23% year-on-year to Rs 2,208 crore, while quick commerce arm Instamart recorded a 53% jump to Rs 1,232 crore. The remaining operating revenue came from segments such as dine-out services and other initiatives, including Bolt and Toing. The company also reported Rs 211 crore in other income. As a result, its total income rose to Rs 7,023 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 5,048 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. On the expense front, procurement of materials remained Swiggy's largest cost centre at Rs 2,975 crore during the quarter. Employee benefit expenses declined marginally by 3.5% to Rs 662 crore. Advertising and sales promotion expenses stood at Rs 1,160 crore, while delivery costs amounted to Rs 1,750 crore. Other operational expenses pushed the company's total expenditure to Rs 7,813 crore in Q1 FY27. Segment-wise, Swiggy's food delivery business remained EBITDA positive with an EBITDA of Rs 299 crore, while its quick commerce arm, Instamart, continued to incur losses and reported a negative EBITDA of Rs 651 crore during the quarter. Swiggy's losses narrowed 34% year-on-year to Rs 791 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 1,197 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, aided by strong revenue growth. On a sequential basis, the company's losses remained largely flat at Rs 791 crore compared with Rs 799 crore in Q4 FY26, while revenue grew 7% from Rs 6,383 crore. Swiggy’s shares closed at Rs 295.91 on Thursday, giving the company a market capitalization of Rs 81,098 crore ($8.53 billion).
