Multinational transportation company Uber has launched train ticket booking on its app in partnership with AI-native travel platform ixigo. The offering allows users to book train tickets, check PNR status and connect their first- and last-mile journeys through Uber, bringing these services together on a single app. The launch is part of Uber’s expansion of its intercity travel offerings in India. Through the partnership, ixigo will provide its train ticket booking technology and post-booking services, while Uber will connect train journeys with its mobility services. Uber already operates at railway stations across India, and the new feature extends its services beyond station connectivity to train ticket booking. With the addition of train ticket booking, Uber’s mobility portfolio in India now spans moto, auto, cars, metro, intercity cars, intercity buses and train ticketing. Uber entered India in 2013 and currently operates in more than 225 cities. Founded in 2007 by Aloke Bajpai and Rajnish Kumar, ixigo is a travel technology company that enables users to plan, book and manage trips across trains, flights, buses and hotels. Its ixigo, ConfirmTkt and AbhiBus apps offer travel booking and utility services, including train, flight, bus and hotel bookings.
