Fintech platform Pine Labs has appointed Jayaram Karthik, former Senior Vice President of Business Operations at Razorpay, as its chief operations officer as the company looks to strengthen its operational capabilities and merchant experience across markets. In his new role, Karthik will oversee operations and merchant experience across India and international markets. He will focus on building technology-enabled operating models and standardising merchant journeys as Pine Labs expands its global footprint. Karthik brings over 25 years of experience across operations, risk, analytics and technology. Before joining Pine Labs, he was Senior Vice President of Business Operations at Razorpay. He has also held leadership roles at American Express, Citibank, Amazon and Tata, where he worked on operational transformation and scaling business processes. Commenting on the appointment, Pine Labs CEO B Amrish Rau said the company is focused on bringing together technology and operations to improve customer experiences as it scales across markets. Pine Labs currently operates across more than 20 countries. Karthik said the company’s next competitive advantage in fintech would come from simplifying complex processes for customers through a combination of technology, operations and experience. On the financial front, Pine Labs’ revenue from operations grew to Rs 737 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 616 crore in Q1 FY26. The faster growth in revenue compared to expenses helped the company increase its profit nearly fourfold to Rs 20 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 5 crore in Q1 FY26. Pine Labs operates a Commerce OS that provides payments, issuing, credit and other fintech solutions for merchants, enterprises, financial institutions and consumers. The company has a presence across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and the US. Bareback Media has recently raised funding from a group of investors.
