Ola Electric has unveiled a complete energy storage portfolio for home, commercial and utility scale applications. Beside electric vehicles, the business is working on new battery energy storage devices, Ola Shakti 2, Shakti Rack and Mahashakti, to broaden the company’s energy offerings. Ola Electric, a manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs), launched three new battery energy storage systems (BESSs) on August 16 in an effort to strengthen its energy solutions business. Among the new offerings are the Ola Shakti 2 household battery storage system, the Shakti Rack BESS tailored to the industry, and Mahashakti, an energy storage solution for large-scale utilities. According to Ola Electric's announcement in the exchanges, the product line takes advantage of the company's combined competencies in energy storage systems, battery packs, and battery cells. Consequently, it is bolstering and broadening its range of energy solutions. To put it in perspective, a BESS stores energy in rechargeable batteries and releases it as needed. Additional energy generated by solar or wind can also be stored in it. The electric vehicle manufacturer also unveiled their new Shakti Solar Charge Controller at the same time. This new product includes maximum power point tracking (MPPT) that may be used independently. In March of 2027, it will be available in two different power ratings: 3 kW and 6 kW. To set the scene, a solar charge controller is a piece of electrical equipment that controls the current and voltage output by the panels to avoid overcharging. Ola Shakti Gen 2 can control common home equipment like refrigerators and air conditioners, according to the company's website. The residential-focused BESS will be offered in two variants, according to its website: one with a 9.2 kWh battery and a power of 6 kW, and the other with a battery capacity of 4.6 kWh and a power of 3 kW. On the other hand, under full load, both platforms provide a 1.5-hour power backup. Ola Electric's 3 kW version is now priced at INR 99,000, and the 6 kW version will start retailing for almost INR 1.75 lakhs. Both versions are powered by the company's in-house 4680 Bharat lithium-ion cell. Both devices will be available for delivery beginning in November 2026. The second thing the EV manufacturer did was to provide commercial and industrial clients AC (alternative current) and DC (direct current) racks. The Shakti AC rack, according to its website, will have a 415 V three-phase AC output, an inverter power range of 18-50 kW, and an energy capacity of 73 kWh. Using air-cooled thermal management as its power source, the AC rack is anticipated to be available for purchase by March 2027. Its purpose is to provide three-phase AC backup and peak-shaving for commercial loads. The Shakti DC, in contrast, is a DC-powered modular battery cabinet with a focus on business uses.
