Finvolve,a multi-stage venture capital fund, along with India Accelerator (IA), the country’s leading accelerator, has made an undisclosed investment inKhageshvara Aviation Technology (K.A.T), a deeptech startup building next-generation electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) cargo aircraft for defence, emergency response, and remote logistics applications. The investment is part of K.A.T.'s ongoing pre-seed funding round, alongside participation from co-investors includingRukam Capital, ACIC-VGU and MIETY. Founded in 2023, Khageshvara Aviation Technology is developing an indigenous portfolio of cargo eVTOL platforms capable of operating in challenging terrains where conventional transportation infrastructure is either unavailable or inefficient. The company's roadmap spans aircraft with payload capacities ranging from 5 kg to 400 kg, addressing critical use cases across defence logistics, disaster relief, medical supply delivery, and high-altitude operations. The startup aims to bridge the capability gap between small drones, which are constrained by payload and range, and helicopters, which remain expensive and operationally intensive. By combining vertical take-off capabilities with efficient forward flight, K.A.T is building a scalable, India-first platform for advanced aerial logistics. The fresh capital will be deployed towards completing product development, accelerating field testing, building an interim deployable cargo platform, and advancing certification milestones while strengthening engineering capabilities for commercial deployment. K.A.T has demonstrated strong technical progress, with K-VAAYU completing TRL-5 field trials and K-RUDRA achieving TRL-4 laboratory validation, alongside three design patents and one utility patent. The startup has also secured support through MSME, NIDHI PRAYAS, SISFS, ISTART and TIDE 2.0, and has showcased its innovations at premier platforms, including Startup Maha Kumbh and Boeing Build 3.0, where it emerged as a finalist, alongside recognitions such as ET Startup Awards (Runner-Up), Thinkqubator Winner, and SIIC IIT Kanpur UDAAN. India's growing focus on indigenous defence technologies, resilient logistics infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing is creating significant opportunities for next-generation aviation startups. With increasing demand for rapid-response logistics in border regions, disaster-hit areas, and remote geographies, cargo eVTOL platforms are expected to play a critical role in the country's future mobility ecosystem. Through this investment, Finvolve continues to strengthen its commitment to backing high-impact DeepTech and DefenceTech startups developing globally competitive technologies from India.
