Hyperscale data centre operator CtrlS has raised Rs 250 crore, including Rs 200 crore from Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath and Rs 50 crore from entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga. The proceeds will be used for infrastructure expansion and capacity build-out to meet growing enterprise and hyperscaler demand across India, particularly as AI, cloud and digital workloads accelerate, CtrlS said in a press release. Founded by Sridhar Pinnapureddy, CtrlS is developing AI-ready and hyperscale infrastructure to support India’s growing digital economy while expanding its use of renewable energy and sustainable data centre practices. CtrlS builds and operates hyperscale facilities and has partnered with enterprises, cloud providers, financial institutions and government organisations. The company focuses on uptime, operational excellence, security and sustainability. According to CtrlS, it operates 19 data centres across nine key markets in India with more than 370 MW of capacity and 4.4 GW of projects at various stages of execution. The hyperscale data centre sector is highly capital intensive, with established infrastructure players and newer technology-led companies attracting growth capital to build AI-ready and hyperscale campuses. Recently, Yotta Data Services raised around $150 million to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure, including capital for a joint venture to develop hyperscale data centre campuses across India. CtrlS also recently secured Rs 5,500 crore in debt financing for an AI-ready data centre expansion in Hyderabad. Bareback Media has recently raised funding from a group of investors.
