Digital and AI-native bank slice has appointed Samir Sawhney as Executive Director and Ramesh Kumar as Independent Director to its board. Both appointments have been approved by the slice board, while the Reserve Bank of India has also approved Sawhney’s appointment as Executive Director. Sawhney brings over three decades of banking experience across treasury, investment management and retail banking. Until recently, he served as chief executive of RMBS Development Company, set up by the National Housing Bank to develop India’s residential mortgage-backed securities market. Before this, Sawhney spent over 34 years at State Bank of India, where he served as Chief General Manager, Global Markets, and headed the bank’s treasury operations. He also served as chairman of FEDAI. Kumar brings more than 30 years of experience across banking, financial services and technology. He spent two decades at ICICI Bank, where he led technology strategy and digital banking platforms. Earlier, he led core banking implementation at State Bank of India. Kumar had also worked with slice as an advisor during its integration and merger with North East Small Finance Bank. His areas of expertise include technology governance, cybersecurity, operational resilience and digital transformation. Slice said it will focus on growth and responsible underwriting while continuing to invest in technology. Following its merger with North East Small Finance Bank, slice operates as a full-stack bank offering savings accounts, fixed deposits, UPI, borrow, credit cards and an UPI-led bank branch. Slice is backed by investors including Tiger Global, Insight Partners, Advent International, Blume Ventures and Gunosy Capital. Bareback Media has recently raised funding from a group of investors.
