The Indian electric two-wheeler market has largely been driven by scooters. But Bengaluru-based Mobility Aggregation Global Research Organisation (Magron) is betting on electric motorcycles. Founded in 2022, the startup is developing three electric motorcycles—H35, C20 and C10—and also working on technologies that it hopes to sell across the wider EV ecosystem. The Unacademy-upGrad acquisition may have closed in 2026 for $200 million, but Ronnie Screwvala said the story began six years earlier, when Gaurav Munjal walked into a meeting with an unusually bold proposal. Over lunch at Taj Lands End in Mumbai in 2020, Munjal approached Screwvala and Mayank Kumar about bringing Unacademy and upGrad together. His idea went further than a merger. Munjal wanted to run the combined company. Two insurtech startups, InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy, have announced a merger to build a pan-India insurance distribution platform. According to a company statement, the combined entity will bring together InsuranceDekho’s strong presence in northern and western India with RenewBuy’s network in the south. The merged business will have a premium book of over Rs 6,600 crore, more than six lakh digital partners, and coverage across 98.57% of India’s pin codes as of March 31, 2026. upGrad has completed its acquisition of Unacademy in an all-stock transaction worth a little over $200 million, marking a major deal in the edtech industry. The M&A transaction, which brings together two major edtech businesses, gives upGrad an entry into the online test-preparation segment. It also helps upGrad connect with learners across more touchpoints. India has begun establishing a semiconductor industry after decades of attempts, but Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the progress so far is only the beginning of a much larger effort. In a video posted on X, he described semiconductors as a foundational industry because chips are used in products ranging from refrigerators and televisions to cars, trains, aircraft, computers and mobile phones. Yuma Energy, a battery-swapping venture co-founded by Yulu and Magna International, has raised $35 million in a Series A funding round led by Magna International, the global automotive supplier. The company said it will use the funds primarily to expand its battery-swapping infrastructure across India. Yuma Energy has completed 60 million battery swaps to date, with 100,000 batteries deployed across more than 2,500 charging units and 400 touchpoints in 18 cities. Kepler Aerospace, a space infrastructure and mission operations company, has raised $8 million in a seed round led by Blue Ashva Capital and co-led by Finvolve India Accelerator and other investors.
