DSP Finance, the NBFC arm of DSP Group, has acquired Salter Technologies, which operates digital lending platform Volt Money. The platform provides loans against financial assets, including Loans Against Mutual Funds (LAMF). The acquisition combines the two businesses in the secured lending space. DSP Finance brings its balance sheet, risk management capabilities and institutional infrastructure, while Volt Money brings its digital lending platform and distribution network. Volt Money enables customers to borrow against their mutual fund holdings, with funds disbursed within five minutes, subject to applicable processes and approvals. The acquisition will help DSP Finance expand its digital lending offerings against financial assets and serve customers across the mutual fund and wealth management ecosystem. DSP Finance said it has built a presence in digital lending since receiving its NBFC registration in July 2024. The company has onboarded more than 1.8 lakh retail customers and built a loan book of around Rs 4,000 crore. LAMF allows investors to access liquidity against their mutual fund holdings without redeeming their investments. This enables investors to meet short-term liquidity requirements while remaining invested in their long-term assets. With mutual funds and other financial assets accounting for a growing share of Indian household wealth, loans against such assets are emerging as an alternative source of credit. Founded in 2022 by Ankit Agarwal, Bharat Lamba and Lalit Bihani, Volt Money enables customers to borrow against their mutual fund holdings.
